Zintec is a cold-rolled mild steel coated with a thin layer of zinc (1.0 to 1.75 microns) through an electrolytic process. This treatment significantly improves its resistance to rust and corrosion. Zintec is available in thicknesses from 0.4mm to 2.0mm and features a distinctive matt grey finish. However, it is not suitable for corrosive environments without additional protective coatings.
Galvanised steel is created by submerging untreated steel in molten zinc, providing a robust protective layer. This coating acts as a sacrificial anode, ensuring continued protection even if the surface is scratched.
