Welding & Metal working at MEC

At MEC, we offer a comprehensive range of welding and metal fabrication service. We can weld an extensive array of materials, from thin to thick sheets, including stainless steel and aluminum.

MIG Welding

Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding involves creating an electric arc between a consumable electrode and the metal being fabricated. This process generates heat, causing the electrode and the metal to melt and bond together. MIG welding is generally a faster method compared to other techniques, making it a more cost-effective option for many projects.

TIG Welding

Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding uses a tungsten electrode to produce precise, high-quality welds without always requiring a consumable wire. This technique results in a cleaner appearance and a stronger weld. Due to the skill involved, TIG welding is a slower process, which often makes it a more expensive option than MIG welding.

Spot Welding

Spot welding is a rapid technique that joins thin sheets by applying current through two copper electrode “spots.” The current melts the material at a localized point, typically around 5mm across.
This method is ideal for face-to-face joining of thin sheets, especially in non-critical areas like tabbed corners.

De-Staining and Weld Dressing

When welding stainless steel, discoloration can occur due to heat. At MEC, we use a weld-brush set with phosphoric acid to remove this staining and restore the material to its original finish.
Weld dressing can also be applied to create a seamless appearance or smooth radius where needed. While this is generally effective, caution is advised with aluminum, as fully dressing the weld may reduce its structural integrity.

Our expertise extends to welding a broad range of materials, from thin to thick sheets, encompassing both stainless steel and aluminum.
